"Home" for the holidays

Im back in CT, at my parents house for the holidays, and even though I grew up here I really dont feel at home.  Ive been driving my mom around, hangin out while she does her holiday shopping.   Its just not the same as it used to be but she pretends it is.

Theres really not much going on here, there was a huge snowstorm the last few days so Im sure the mountains would be ready for snowboarding.  I need to do that before I leave again.  The day after Christmas I have to go to Brooklyn to work a few shows with Bayside, so that should be cool.  Im pretty sure Im going to be spending New years eve in NYC, but after that I dont know what Im going to do... The next potential tour that I have isnt til March and I really cant take another 2 months off...

First week of tour

We got to England on Sunday morning and started off on the wroooooong foot.  After we landed we were told the gear was locked up at the storage space and they had closed so on one was going to be there til the next morning, but we had to go to the first day of rehearsal!  We ended up meeting a van with all the equipment about 4 hours from the practice venue, loaded the trailer and were on our way... Once we got to the venue there was only about an hour for them to unload, set up the stage and try to get a song in but at that time everyone else was anxious to break down the stage so everyone was rushed.  After the practice we found a hard rock cafe for dinner and drinks, managers showed up and we all had a pretty good time.

The first show was ok, there was the usual first day bugs to be worked out.  Everyone seems pretty cool, and after the show everyone kinda just hung out around the busses and drank.  I spent most my time on Amon Amarth's bus with Bill drinking wine.  Since Ive got this nasty head cold Ive been taking Nyquil at night to fall asleep, and trying not to rage too hard.  Im feeling better than I was but still not 100% ok yet.

Today we have the day off in London, the boys have a photo shoot and interviews to do.  I'll probably just hang with Irish Paul all day til we can meet up with the boys later on.

Busy week

Caitlyn has been in and out of doctors all week, so Ive been here at her place just hanging out by myself for the most part... This week was CMJ so there's been a lot of friends in town.  I saw the Bronx on Tuesday and at that show I ran into some old tour buddies.  I got an opportunity to work for a merch company to fill in the time between Mastodon tours so I wont have the problem that I did this year having nothing to do between bands.  Wednesday, I went out with Lewis, my tour manager, to some bar his friend was working at so we drank for free for a couple hours.  My cousin Erik met up with us, but left shortly after and we headed to the Webster hall for a death metal show and met up with Colleen for a couple free sparks :-)  Thursday night my friend Elizabeth had an acoustic show so I met my cousin for a drink before that then we watched her set.  We went to the Beauty bar for a little dance party with Big E, and last night I went to go see Young Love at webster hall... It was cool but I feel like Im getting a cold so I didnt stay out too late.  I bought some nyquil and passed out here.  Hopefully it wont be too bad on the flight, I hate being sick and starting a tour sick is the WORST.  Right now Im drinking OJ, watching whats eating gilbert grape and doing the last bit of laundry.  Packing again for the 3rd time this week.

The flight is at 9:40pm, and I'll be gone until Dec 8th so that means no phone for a month!!  I'll try to be good and post up here as much as I can but Im not sure what the internet access will be like.

Surgery

Caitlyn went into surgery for her hand this morning and should be out soon... I was with her before she went in listening to all the questions that the doctors needed to know and it got me a little worried... what if that was me?  I wouldnt know any of the answers because I havent been to a doctor in years!  What would I do if I ever got in an accident or needed surgery... I dont know.  I dont have health insurance I barely even have a job!!

When her parents got there her mom told me I need to sign up for something and before the day shes going to do it for me if I dont do it... it just makes me wonder why my own parents dont care.
